Boly, Danilo, Sangare - Nottingham Forest injury state of play ahead of Fulham clash

Latest Nottingham Forest news as Nuno Espirito Santo's Reds look ahead to Premier League match against the Cottagers

Nottingham Forest take on Fulham at the City Ground this weekend looking to maintain their fine start to the season.

The Reds made it five Premier League matches unbeaten on Sunday when they came away with a 2-2 draw from their trip to face Brighton and Hove Albion. The visitors took the lead through Chris Wood but needed a Ramon Sosa equaliser to secure a point after the Seagulls had turned the game around.

Morgan Gibbs-White was sent off in the closing stages for a second bookable offence and will be suspended for Saturday's clash with the Cottagers (3pm kick-off). Head coach Nuno Espirito Santo will be absent, too, having also been red carded by referee Rob Jones for his reaction to the attacker's dismissal.

Additionally, Forest still have several players on the sidelines. Below is a look at the injury state of play ahead of this weekend's fixture.

Danilo

Injury: Broken ankle.

What we know: Just eight minutes into the new Premier League season, Danilo suffered a broken ankle when he landed awkwardly after challenging for the ball in the 1-1 draw with Bournemouth. He underwent surgery last month and it is hoped he could return to training by December. Pictures on social media have shown him having hyperbaric oxygen therapy sessions to aid his recovery.

The fact he suffered a clean break should help with his recovery. However, it will still take the midfielder time to build up his fitness once he does rejoin his teammates.

What has been said: “The surgery went well. Now we have to be patient,” head coach Nuno said before the recent international break.

“First of all, the important thing is that he takes his time; that he does not make any mistakes. For now, he is not allowed to put his foot on the ground (or put weight through it). It is a small detail, but it is a big detail.

“We do not want to rush him, we do not want to put him under any pressure to come back. He has to settle down.”

Ibrahim Sangare

Injury: Hamstring.

What we know: The Reds midfielder is expected to be out of action for at least two months with a hamstring issue. He underwent surgery on the same day as his teammates were beating Liverpool and faces a significant spell on the sidelines. He sustained the injury prior to the international break and the severity of it was picked up in tests when he was back at the club after leaving the Ivory Coast camp.

What has been said: "Unfortunately, Ibrahim Sangare is going to be a while," Nuno said after the win at Anfield.

Willy Boly

Injury: Calf.

What we know: Ivory Coast manager Emerse Fae said Boly had suffered a calf problem in training prior to his team's clash with Chad during the international break. In his pre-match press conference, Fae said the 33-year-old would miss the game and had returned to Forest. He has not featured in either of the match squads since the Premier League action resumed.

“Regarding the absence of Willy Boly, I will simply explain to you, he was unfortunately injured in training just before our match against Chad,” Fae said. “Examinations revealed a calf injury, and he is therefore unavailable. He returned to the club to recover.”

What has been said: “Boly is really close to joining the group. Unfortunately Ibrahim Sangare and Danilo are out for a while," Nuno said before the game against Brighton.
