Sir Jim Ratcliffe is faced with the challenging task of persuading Thomas Tuchel to overlook his primary concern about accepting the Manchester United position, should he aim to replace Erik ten Hag with the German.

Tuchel was a top contender to succeed Ten Hag in the summer after his departure from Bayern Munich. However, United chose to stick with the Dutchman and offered him a new contract, a decision that now has been questioned.

Ten Hag's team has lost three out of their first seven Premier League matches, dropping to 12th place in the league table. The disappointing loss to Tottenham on Sunday has put his tenure in jeopardy.

As doubts over his future increase, speculation about his potential replacement will intensify. Tuchel, who is currently unemployed following his exit from Bayern, is expected to be strongly linked with the role.

He had previously engaged in discussions with United's controlling co-owner, Ratcliffe. However, he withdrew himself from consideration before United decided to retain Ten Hag, reports the Mirror.

Bild reports that Tuchel decided to withdraw from talks due to the new structure Ratcliffe has implemented at Old Trafford. Omar Berrada has been appointed as chief executive, Dan Ashworth has joined as sporting director, and Jason Wilcox has been named technical director.

However, Tuchel expressed doubts about working within such a structure. It's reported that Tuchel's view on the United squad differed sharply from that of the club's directors, with the German not impressed by the technical leaders that Ratcliffe introduced.

If Manchester United decide to part ways with their current manager Erik ten Hag, Tuchel might become a target once again. Yet Ten Hag remains defiant, declaring his capabilities to lead the side.

Discussing the collective decisions made during his tenure, Ten Hag explained: "I think we all made, in togetherness, this decision to stay together, as an ownership, as a leadership group, in the summer. And also, we made the decision from a clear review, what we have to improve as an organisation and how also we want to construct a squad."

He continued with details of the team's evolution: "And they are all decision-making in togetherness, but also we knew it would take some time because of how the window went, some players late in, like Ugarte, we have to integrate him now.

"Also, we had to make some improvement in organisation, we still have to deal with some injuries, also from impact players, and I think we will get better there. We need some time. We are all on one page, together, the ownership, the leadership group, the staff and players group."

"There's always a new game, there will be a new day, and it's also obvious. You have to learn as a team. You can't make such mistakes, so definitely, we have to address this. But we will bounce back."
