Bristol Rovers February fixture moved for TV as Sky Sports stick to pledge towards EFL fans

Bristol Rovers' home game against Peterborough United in February will be broadcast live on Sky Sports as the major broadcaster continues its pledge to give EFL fans more notice of fixture changes.

The match was initially scheduled for Saturday, February 1 but will now be played on Sunday, February 2 with a 3pm kick-off time. It will also be shown live on the 'Sky Sports Football' channel as opposed to 'Sky Sports Plus'.

This season has seen the start of a major new broadcast deal between Sky and the EFL which will end in over 1,000 matches being broadcast across the Championship, League One and League Two as well as the Carabao Cup and Bristol Street Motors Trophy.

In regards to Rovers, every League One side will be shown on television at least 20 times over the course of the campaign whereas previously there was no obligation or set amount of games from League One and League Two that had to be shown.

Already, the Gas have had 10 matches shown on Sky Sports Plus with their 11th set for this weekend when they host Crawley Town. That is because every game that avoids postponement during an international break gets shown on television.

Additionally, every midweek League One fixture has been broadcast as part of the deal along with the opening day clash against Northampton Town, cup clashes against Cardiff City, Tottenham Hotspur Under-21s, Swindon Town and Exeter City while league trips to Stockport County and Reading were moved to 12:30 kick-offs for television purposes.

Rovers have another two league matches scheduled to be shown on Sky Sports Plus with their home game against Wrexham (December 21) and trip to Cambridge United (January 4) moved to 12:30pm kick-off times.

Peterborough are currently 12th in League One having made the play-off semi-finals in the last two seasons. There is also an entertainment factor when it comes to the Posh who have already scored 31 goals, only bettered by leaders Wycombe Wanderers with 32, while they've also conceded 27 goals, the joint-second worst tally in the division.

That was proven when Rovers visited London Road in September as Peterborough cruised to a 3-0 lead before the Gas almost completed an incredible fightback with goals from Luke McCormick and Gatlin O'Donkor setting up a frantic finale.
