Ravindra Jadeja pulled out his iconic sword celebration after completing his ever-crucial half-century, which brought fresh hopes for India batting innings in their first Test against Bangladesh. Jadeja struck a crucial half-century alongside the ever-resilient R Ashwin on Day 1 of the first Test against Bangladesh in Chennai on September 19, turning the tide in favour of the home side after an early top-order collapse. Jadeja reached his composed fifty only minutes after Ashwin clinched his own fifty in 58 balls, showcasing their remarkable resilience under pressure.

At the MA Chidambaram Stadium, things looked uncertain for the Rohit Sharma-led side as the Bangladesh bowling attack made early breakthroughs. With big names like skipper Rohit Sharma, star batter Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, and KL Rahul all failing to make a significant impact at the crease, the home side found themselves under intense pressure.

It was only due to a steady partnership between Yashasvi Jaiswal and the returning Rishabh Pant that India managed to cross the 100-run mark, putting up 144 runs on the board. Jaiswal played a mature knock, while Pant showed glimpses of his attacking style before falling to the impressive pace of Hasan Mahmud. Jaiswal was later dismissed by Nahid Rana, leaving India in a precarious position.

At that point, Ashwin and Jadeja took control of the game. Ashwin, known for his aggressive approach, played the role of the aggressor, scoring quickly and keeping the scoreboard ticking. Jadeja, on the other hand, brought composure and stability to the crease, frustrating the Bangladesh bowling unit and providing much-needed relief to his side.

The partnership between the two seasoned all-rounders brought India back into the game, ensuring that they ended the day on a much stronger note than they had started. Their efforts helped to steady the innings and created a foundation for India to build on as the match progressed.
