Sachin Tendulkar was in awe of Chennai centurions Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant after their fine knocks on Day 3 of the first Test between India and Bangladesh on September 21, Saturday. Gill and Pant put together a 167-run stand as they put the Bangladesh bowlers to the sword with some elegant shots. Gill remained unbeaten on 119 while Pant marked his return to red-ball cricket with a fine 109.

The partnership from the duo saw India score 287 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in the second innings and giving Bangladesh target of 515 runs to win. India now need just 6 wickets to take a 1-0 lead as Bangladesh ended the day on 158 for 4. Tendulkar led the way with praises for Gill and Pant on his official X account. The cricket legend said he loved watching Gill glide his way to a hundred. Tendulkar would then praise Pant for looking sharp on his return to Tests after nearly being away for 2 years. The legend ended his tweet saying that it was great to see both men in fine rhythm on the day.

Gill and Pant serve up a special in Chennai

Gill and Pant served up a special on the day in Chennai. After starting cautiously, both men would change gears after reaching their fifties and attacked the Bangladesh bowlers. While Pant brought out his innovative shots, Gill kept it plain and simple and got his 5th Test hundred.

Pant went level with Dhoni for the most hundreds by an Indian wicketkeeper in Tests with his knock on Saturday.
