Angry Indian cricket fans lashed out on X after the team's first-ever whitewash at home. India lost 0-3 against Tom Latham's New Zealand, a new low in the history of Indian cricket. A section of fans took to social media after the game and called out Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma for their poor outings with the bat on Sunday.
#Retire trended on X after Rohit and Kohli ended the series with 91 and 93 runs respectively after playing all three matches. The duo hit one fifty each in the Test series, which made for the majority of their 90 runs. Kohli and Rohit looked in woeful touch and had several brain-fade moments in the recently concluded series.
In fact, legendary India cricketer Sunil Gavaskar felt that Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are going through a terrible patch of form. Speaking to Indian Express, Gavaskar said that the duo were going through a bad patch and have had no luck in the series at all. Gavaskar added that ideally, the Indian duo should have had some match practice and preparation before going into a long Test season.

Both Kohli and Rohit got out early in the second innings at Wankhede as India were chasing 147 runs. After Rohit fell to Matt Henry, Kohli threw away his wicket off Ajaz Patel, who picked up a total of 11 wickets in the game.
Fans were furious with the senior India duo and slammed them on social media platforms.
The loss put India in a precarious position in the race to the World Test Championship Finals. India have to win at least 4 games and not lose a single match to directly qualify for the final of the World Test Championship. If India lose even one game, they will have to depend on other results to qualify for the final.
