Vaibhav Suryavanshi, 13, hit the fastest hundred by an Indian in Under-19 Tests, achieving the milestone against the Australia Under-19 team at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Monday. Vaibhav, who plays for Bihar, smashed his hundred in just 58 balls in his maiden red-ball match for the India Under-19 team.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi's 58-ball hundred is only behind former England all-rounder Moeen Ali, who hit a 56-ball hundred for England Under-19 in 2005. Vaibhav hit 14 boundaries and 4 sixes in a destructive knock. He was run out when batting on 104 in just 62 deliveries as India came up with a strong response to Australia's first innings total of 293.

Vaibhav's batting style has drawn comparisons to established players like Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan, with his distinctive bat swing and ability to play shots with both feet off the ground. His innings featured a variety of shots, including a square drive, a pull over deep mid-wicket, and a classic cover drive, highlighting his versatility and skill.

Vaibhav made headlines when he made his debut for Bihar in the Ranji Trophy at the age of 12, surpassing Sachin Tendulkar and Yuvraj Singh in the list of youngest debutants in the domestic first-class tournament. He scored 31 runs over two first-class matches -- against Mumbai and Chattisgarh in 2024.

Before his Ranji Trophy debut, Suryavanshi had already made a name for himself in age-group cricket. He played for the India B U-19 side in a Quadrangular Under-19 series, where he scored 177 runs in six innings, including two half-centuries. He also performed well in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy, ending as the eighth-best run scorer with 393 runs from five matches and an average of 78.60.

Suryavanshi's journey in cricket began at the age of nine, with early coaching from his father, Sanjeev Suryavanshi. His father's passion for cricket and his own dedication have driven Vaibhav to achieve remarkable success at such a young age, making him a promising talent in Indian cricket.
