India spinner Varun Chakravarthy picked three wickets on his comeback to the national team. Playing against Bangladesh, Varun's overspin proved too good for the opponent as he scalped wickets of Towhid Hridoy, Jaker Ali and Rishad Hossain. Varun opened up on the emotional rollercoaster he faced during his time away from the team.

Speaking in the post-match press conference, Varun said that the thought of being left out of the India squad used to occupy his mind and made him react badly when he was away from the team.

"Whenever there was a squad that was announced, I used to feel like, 'Why is my name not there?' and I used to keep thinking about that...The first thing I have to mention is my family. They have been through this and they have been facing all my adverse emotions, they have seen it the most," Varun Chakravarthy said in the press conference.

However, Varun added that being dropped motivated him to do better and put equal focus on every tournament he was playing across Indian domestic competitions.

"So that kind of brought the motivation within me that I should not leave this. I should go all out and make a comeback, so I started playing a lot of domestic games and giving importance to it. That kind of helped me," Varun said.

Speaking about the match, Varun said that the Indian team had healthy competition. He revealed that it was his fellow spinner Ravi Bishnoi who kept cheering him up throughout the match. Bishnoi - the former World No. 1 T20I bowler was dropped from this game to accommodate the returning Varun in the playing XI.

"There is good competition and there is good camaraderie also," Varun said.

"And the person who was cheering me was Ravi Bishnoi; he was coming and telling me messages, so I can't ask for more. It's actually good to have such competition so that people will keep pushing each other. Someone will be better than others at one point of time and he will definitely get the Cup for India, so that competition is very required," he further added.

On Sunday, India handed a thumping loss to Bangladesh. After restricting the opponent for just 127 runs, India chased the target down in just 11.5 overs. Hardik Pandya starred with the bat, hitting an unbeaten 39 off 16 balls.
