IPL Full Retention List: MS Dhoni, Rohit Sharma lead line-up as franchises retain 46 players

The full IPL retention list is in as the 10 teams have retained 46 players ahead of the 2025 auction. Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni lead the list of the superstars who have been retained by their franchises on October 31, Thursday.

The IPL retentions are in with the 10 franchises releasing the players they will be keeping in their side ahead of the 2025 auctions. There were quite a few surprises when it came to the players released as Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul were let go by their former sides. But when it comes to MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma, both men will be continuing their love affairs with Chennai and Mumbai respectively.

CSK decided to exercise the infamous 'uncapped player' rule to retain Dhoni as they also decided to keep hold of captain Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ravindra Jadeja for 18 crores, Matheesha Pathirana for 13 and Shivam Dube for 12. MI, on the other hand, decided to make Jasprit Bumrah their No.1 pick for 18 crores, followed by Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav at 16.35 crores. Rohit Sharma has been retained for 16.30 crores and Tilak Varma was retained by the 5-time champions for 8.

2024 champions KKR decided to keep hold of Sunil Narine, Andre Russell, Rinku Singh, Varun Chakaravarthy, Harshit Rana and Ramandeep Singh ahead of the auctions. Rinku has become their top pick for 13 crores, with Russell, Narine and Chakaravarthy also taking home 12. Uncapped players Harshit and Ramnadeep have been retained for 4 crores each.

SRH decided to retain their star-studded core of Heinrich Klaasen, Pat Cummins, Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma and Nitish Kumar Reddy. Klaasen has been retained for a whopping 23 crores with Cummins taking 18 and Head and Abhishek taking 14 each. Nitish Kumar Reddy has been retained for 6 crores.

RCB decided to retain Virat Kohli for 21 crores with Rajat Patidar being brought back for 11 crores and Yash Dayal at 5. LSG decided to let go of KL Rahul and retained Nicholas Pooran, Ravi Bishnoi, Mayank Yadav, Mohsin Khan and Ayush Badoni. Lucknow retained Pooran for 21 crores, Bishnoi and Mayank at 11 crores each and Mohsin and Badoni at the standard 4 crores for uncapped players.

PBKS decided to retain 2 uncapped players in the form of Shashank Singh and Prabhsimran Singh. The former has been retained for 5.5 crores while the latter has bagged 4. Rajasthan Royals went out completely on retaining the Indian core of Sanju Samson, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Riyan Parag, Dhruv Jurel and Sandeep Sharma and also added Shimron Hetmyer to the mix. Rajasthan retained Samson as their No.1 pick for 18 crores and gave the same amount to Jaiswal as well. Jurel and Parag bagged 14 crores each while Hetmyer got 11 and Sandeep took home 4.

GT retained Rashid Khan as their top pick for 18 crores while Shubman Gill accepted a pay cut and was retained at 16.5 crores. Sai Sudharsan was brought back to the franchise for 8.5 crores while Shahrukh Khan and Rahul Tewatia got retained for 4 crores each.

Finally, DC made the bold call to cut Pant from their line-up and decided to keep Axar Patel as their main pick at 16.5 crores. Kuldeep Yadav was the No.2 pick at 13.25 crores with Tristan Stubbs beinf retained for 10 crores while Abhishek Porel was brought back as an uncapped player for 4 crores.
