Rishabh Pant has not been retained by the Delhi Capitals (DC) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2025. The left-handed wicketkeeper will go into the mega auction as DC decided to retain Tristan Stubbs, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav and Abhishek Porel as their four players for the upcoming edition.
The talks between Pant and DC’s ownership group did not go as planned, after which Pant was released. The Capitals will have a chance to buy back Pant since they will have two RTM card options at the auction, expected to be held in November.
In 2021, Pant became the fifth-youngest captain in the history of the IPL after Virat Kohli, Steve Smith, Suresh Raina and Shreyas Iyer. Pant led DC after Shreyas was ruled out of the IPL due to a dislocated shoulder.
Pant joined the Capitals in 2016 after he performed exceptionally in the Under-19 World Cup in Bangladesh, where India finished as the runners-up under Ishan Kishan’s leadership. Pant was a teenager then and from there on he did not look back.
