It is time for the re-match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 final as South Africa host India for four-match T20I series, starting November 8, Friday. South Africa announced a strong 16-member squad for the T20I series as they seek revenge for the final, which took place on June 29, Saturday in Barbados. South Africa and India will face off in a four-game T20I series, marking their first encounter since the final. Aiden Markram is set to lead a formidable South African team, featuring a dynamic middle order anchored by power-hitters David Miller and Heinrich Klaasen.

Keshav Maharaj will handle spin duties, while Marco Jansen and Gerald Coetzee will strengthen the pace attack. All-rounder Mihlali Mpongwana has earned his maiden call-up after a stellar performance in the CSA T20 Challenge, taking 12 wickets at an impressive average of 14.08. Alongside him, uncapped all-rounder Andile Simelane joins the squad, having previously travelled with the team to the UAE in September.

Kagiso Rabada rested

Star pacer Kagiso Rabada will sit out the series, while Lungi Ngidi is being held back to prepare for the upcoming home Test series against Sri Lanka in November. Lutho Sipamla, with 18 international wickets to his name, will bolster the squad for the third and fourth T20Is.

South Africa white-ball coach Rob Walter revealed that he wanted to build towards the Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 with this unit.

“It’s both an exciting and important series for us as we continue to build towards the T20 World Cup in 2026.

“The squad has a nice mix of youth and experience, and I am looking forward to seeing us deliver some quality performances against a very attacking Indian T20 outfit.”
