Abhishek Sharma has made a name for himself by going all guns blazing at the top of the order. However, the young Punjab batter might have to temper his starts at the top of the order. Abhishek faces stiff competition for the opening spot. While Sanju Samson, who was promoted to open against Bangladesh has made a mark, India also have Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill and Ruturaj Gaikwad as strong contenders for the top-order spots.

In IPL 2024, Abhishek Sharma amassed an impressive 484 runs in just 16 matches with a remarkable strike rate of 204. He achieved this feat despite facing fewer than 30 balls in each innings, a rare accomplishment in franchise T20 cricket.

Sharma's opening partnerships with Travis Head were pivotal for SRH. His aggressive approach at the top of the order set the tone for the team, allowing Head to play a more anchoring role. Sharma's fearlessness and ability to score rapidly have put immense pressure on the opposition, making him a valuable asset to the team.
