‘Told Me I’d Be Surprised’ – Former Striker Makes Derby’s Pride Park Admission

Former striker Iwan Roberts has revealed he was told he would be surprised by the atmosphere at Derby County’s Pride Park and believes the fans are fully behind the team.

Derby managed to earn promotion from League One last season and they are getting used to life in the Championship under Paul Warne.

The Rams have not lost a single game in the Championship so far this season and their undefeated run at Pride Park goes back to February.

Roberts stated that he saw Derby at Pride Park during their game with Cardiff City on 14th September, where the stadium was packed with the Rams faithful.

He admits he was told he would be surprised by the atmosphere and thinks the fans are fully on board with Warne and his team.

“I was there a couple of weeks ago when Cardiff went there – they only won 1-0, but they were miles better than Cardiff”, Roberts wrote in his Pink Un column.

“In the press room before the game I was talking to someone from BBC Radio Derbyshire and he told me I’d be surprised.

“He said ‘this place is bouncing’.

“I haven’t been there for a couple of seasons, but it was full and they get behind their team.

“They see their players working their socks off for the manager and for them, and if you don’t match you are in trouble.”

Derby are set to face Norwich City at the weekend at Pride Park and all eyes will be on Warne’s side to see whether they will be able to extend their unbeaten run.
