GAA Championship: County Finals on TG4, Live TV and Clubber games this weekend

Streaming service Clubber will screen 36 GAA games from 10 counties while TG4 have a live double bill of County Finals.

County Final season is here, with six deciders taking place this weekend - and two of them screened live on TG4.

The five finals are Laois, Wicklow, Tyrone, Armagh (all hurling), Carlow (football) and Leitrim (football), but there are also huge semi-final ties acorss the country, including Dublin and Mayo football, and Clare and Cork hurling.

First up on TG4 is the Leitrim football final, where holders Mohill will bid for a 10th title when they face record 21 time champions Sean O’Heslin’s, Ballinamore, who are nine clear of second placed Aughawillan (12) in the roll of honour.

The TV double bill is completed by the Laois hurling final, which sees Clough-Ballacolla face Rathdowney Errill.

11-time winners Clough-Ballacolla won a three-in-a-row (2020-22) before record title holders Camross took last year’s crown, their 27th in all.

Rathdowney are second on the roll of honour on 18 titles. Since they amalgamated they’ve won six county crowns, the first coming in 2006 and the most recent in 2019.

Since Portlaoise (2004) and Castletown (2005) won their last Laois county titles, the 19 on offer since have been shared by by Rathdowney Errill (6), Clough-Ballacolla (6) Camross (5) and Borris-in-Ossory/Kilcotton (1).

The Carlow senior football final also takes place this weekend with 2021 champions Rathvilly facing 2022 winners Palatine at Dr. Cullen Park on Sunday (4pm).

Rathvilly sit on nine titles with Palatine on seven, while Eire Og (31) lead the way, followed by O’Hanrahans (13), Tinryland (15), Graiguecullen (13) and St. Patrick’s Tullow (10).

There are also county senior hurling finals this weekend, with Madden facing Clan na Gael in Armagh, Carrickmore playing Dungannon in Tyrone and Bray playing Carnew in Wicklow.

Live games on Clubber this weekend

Meanwhile there are 36 games on Clubber, across 10 counties: Kilkenny, Kerry, Offaly, Waterford, Meath, Monaghan, Laois, Kildare, Tipperary and Louth.

In Kilkenny, holders O’Loughlin Gaels face Dicksboro at Nowlan Park on Sunday (3.30pm) in hurling the quarter-finals.

In Offaly, favourites Kilcormac Killoughey go head to head with Coolderry on Sunday at 3.45pm at O’Connor Park, Tullamore. The other semi-final is the curtain raiser, featuring Banagher and Ballinamere (2.15pm).

Meath are down to the semi-finals with Matthew Costello’s Dunshaughlin facing Dunboyne at Pairc Tailteann on Saturday (4pm), and Wolfe Tones meeting Skryne at the same venue the following day (4pm).

Both these games will feature on Clubber as will the Louth semi-finals, with Newtown Blues facing back to back champions and favourites St. Mary’s Ardee on Saturday at 6pm in Haggardstown.

The following day the other semi-final features Sam Mulroy’s St. Martin’s against St. Mochtas at Dowdallshill.

Elsewhere, record Cork football title holders Nemo Rangers take on Clonakilty on Sunday with the quarter-final action beginning at 3.30pm in Bandon.

Clonakilty lost a Cork final two years ago and are chasing a first title since 2009, while Nemo were beaten by Castlehaven in last year’s decider. Nemo have won four of the last seven Cork Championships.

Tyrone - probably the most competitive football Championship around with seven different winners in the last eight years - are down to the semi-final stage.

The first last four ties sees holders Trillick, powered by Mattie and Richard Donnelly, face Dungannon Clarkes on Friday evening at Healy Park (7pm).

The second tie is the meeting of Errigal Ciaran, with the Canavan brothers in harness, and Killyclogher. This is on Sunday at 7pm in Healy Park.

Mayo has thrown up some big semi-final ties with Aidan O’Shea’s Breaffy up against Knockmore, and holders Ballina facing Ballaghaderreen.

County Board chiefs in Mayo have gone a different route to most counties and fixed their semi-finals as a double header.

The games will take place on Sunday at MacHale Park with Ballina and Ballaghaderreen up first at 1.30pm, and the other tie at 3.30pm.

The Dublin football semi-finals are both at Parnell Park. The first features Cuala and Ballymun at 5.15pm on Saturday, while on Sunday at 4pm new Meath manager, Robbie Brennan’s Kilmacud Crokes meet Na Fianna. Both of these games are live on Dubs TV.

Other counties who are down to the semi-final stages of their football championships this weekend include Armagh, Fermanagh, Cavan, Roscommon, Tipperary and London, while Kerry, Derry, Cork, Monaghan and Waterford are at the quarter-final point.

There are some huge hurling games across the country with Pairc Ui Chaoimh hosting a Cork semi-final double header on Sunday.

It starts with Blackrock against Imokilly at 2pm, with Sarsfields meeting Midleton at 3.45pm.

In the Antrim semi-finals, it’s Cushendall versus St. John’s on Saturday (4pm) at Dunloy, and Loughgiel against Dunloy on Sunday (4pm) at Cushendall.

Clare are also down to the semi-final stages with Cusack Park hosting Cratloe and Feakle at 4pm on Saturday and Sixmilebridge versus Inagh-Kilnamona on Sunday (3.30pm).
