Aidan O'Shea has warned the GAA not to make too many changes to Gaelic football too soon.

O'Shea lined out for Connacht against Leinster on Friday night at Croke Park as the provincial series returned, with the Mayo man making history in the opening two minutes by scoring the first 'four-pointer' goal when he converted from 15 yards out.

The Breaffy star was excellent throughout the contest, kicking a couple of two-pointers and was awarded the player of the match award after the game.

Upon collecting his award, O'Shea spoke to TG4 about the new rules, what worked, what didn't and how he felt about the FRC's tweaks to the sport.

"I don't want to judge off one game and obviously it was very one-sided as well," O'Shea said.

"We have to be careful that we don't change too much.

"Obviously, we want to make sure people are entertained and are enjoying the game but that seemed to be very one-sided and the game ran away from Leinster very quickly."

Continuing, O'Shea said: 'Yeah the tap-and-go and the three-up I think work but the scoring system - I don't think there is any real need to (change that).

"But look, there is a lot of work gone into this from the FRC (Football Review Committee) so we have got to try and embrace it as best we can over the next few days but there is probably a few tweaks that need to be made."

The Mayo legend will be back in action at Croke Park on Saturday evening when his Connacht side take on the winner's of this evening's clash between Munster and Ulster.
