Conor McGregor makes massive financial claim as he bids to break more records

by · Irish Mirror

Conor McGregor has claimed that he holds the record for eight of the top 10 pay-per-view buys in UFC history.

The Notorious one went on to state that by the end of his UFC career, the entire top-10 list will consist of McGregor fights.

Records show that McGregor has been involved in 8 of the 10 highest grossing pay-per-views in UFC history, with fights against Jose Aldo, Eddie Alvarez, Donald Cerrone, Nate Diaz (2), Dustin Poirier (2) and Khabib Nurmagomedov all hitting more than 1 million buys.

There has been suggestions that the Brock Lesnar v Frank Mir II bout that headlined UFC 100 earned 1.6 million buys and took a place away from McGregor, but according to the Irishman, this is untrue.

"7 out of 10 highest ppv’s, NO! I have 8 of the highest! I outsold UFC 100! I have the documentation to prove it. By end of my contract I will hold the entire top 10," posted McGregor on Twitter yesterday.

McGregor hasn't fought now for three years since breaking his leg in defeat to Dustin Poirier in 2021.

A comeback never materialised in 2024, but according to UFC CEO Dana White, the Irishman will finally return in 2025.

"He's fighting with everybody right now, but he's not fighting anybody right now. I've said this a lot. Conor has gotten into a position where he's made so much money and he has all these businesses that continue to make him a lot of money," White said on the Outta Pocket podcast.

"It's tough to get up and fight when you're in the position that he's in. I do believe that Conor McGregor will fight in '25. There is no fight made or a date set or any of that.

"If you watched what I was saying in '24, I was saying, 'I don't think he's going to fight,' I do believe he'll fight in '25."
