Dana White thinks Conor McGregor will fight in 2025 - but there's a catch

by · Irish Mirror

UFC CEO and President Dana White believes Conor McGregor will finally make his return to the Octagon in 2025.

However, the promoter claims that he has no date or opponent in mind for the former two-weight UFC World Champion.

McGregor hasn't fought since 2021 when he suffered a broken leg in defeat to Dustin Poirier. He was due to make a comeback against Michael Chandler in June of this year, but a toe injury ended those hopes just weeks before fight-night.

The Irishman has since made a number of claims about his fighting future and has hinted that he has frustrations with how the UFC have handled his absence.

McGregor has seemed much more upbeat in recent months and even claimed last week that he had a fight booked for the beginning of February with veteran lightweight Dan Hooker.

While those claims have been rubbished by both Hooker and White, the legendary MMA promoter appeared on the Outta Pocket podcast this week and gave a positive update on McGregor's fighting future.

"He's fighting with everybody right now, but he's not fighting anybody right now. I've said this a lot. Conor has gotten into a position where he's made so much money and he has all these businesses that continue to make him a lot of money.

"It's tough to get up and fight when you're in the position that he's in. I do believe that Conor McGregor will fight in '25. There is no fight made or a date set or any of that.

"If you watched what I was saying in '24, I was saying, 'I don't think he's going to fight,' I do believe he'll fight in '25."
