Liverpool’s success under Arne Slot has owed as much to keeping goals out as banging them in.

Ten goals in five Premier League games has reaped four wins. But the only goal they have conceded - at home against Nottingham Forest - saw a rare defeat at Anfield.

They then lost keeper Alisson to injury but back-up Caoimhin Kelleher came in on Saturday against Bournemouth and kept a clean sheet as they got back to winning ways. Now he insists the Merseysiders must kick on, take the momentum of Saturday's latest success and run with it.

After his first start of the season, Kelleher said: “Delighted to get the win, I thought we played really well. It was a great performance. We were disappointed with what happened last weekend but all we can do is bounce back as a team and we have done that.

“We need to keep this momentum now and keep the confidence. We all love working under the new manager and things are really coming together so hopefully we can keep the results going, and the performances.”

Kelleher did concede early in the game against the Cherries only for VAR to rule it out for offside.

“It maybe woke us up as such,” he said. “After that we did quite well and we scored the first goal and then got the second in quick succession… a good team performance in the end.

“It’s not easy for the opposition [when] the pace of that front three is running at you. After the first goal we really clicked into gear and the second one came quite quickly.

"So, a really good performance from all the lads.”

Kelleher made some keys saves and knows that when the opportunities come along, he needs to take advantage.

“The chances are few and far between sometimes so I need to come in and do well. I’m happy to make some saves and the most important thing is the clean sheet, so I’m happy with that.”
