WPL 2025 Retention: Full list of retained and released players by all 5 teams and purse remaining

All five teams have announced the list of retained and released players ahead of the 2025 edition of the Women's Premier League (WPL). Here's the detailed list of all the retained and released players ahead of the mini-auction later this year.

The deadline to confirm the list of retained and released players ahead of the next edition of the Women's Premier League (WPL) ended today. Accordingly, all five teams have announced the same as the marquee Indian players like Smriti Mandhana, Harmanpreet Kaur, and Jemimah Rodrigues have been retained by their respective franchises. For the unversed, just before retentions, Danielle Wyatt-Hodge was traded to Royal Challengers Bengaluru from UP Warriorz.

Sneh Rana was one of the top Indian players to be released by Gujarat Giants while the same team also let go of T20 World Cup 2024 winner Lea Tahuhu of New Zealand. This was a huge surprise as both players have been proven performances over the years. Among other big releases are Heather Knight by RCB and Issy Wong by MI. 

Meanwhile, amidst talks of captaincy change, UP Warriorz have also confirmed Alyssa Healy as their skipper for one more season and yet again, Deepti Sharma will play under her leadership.
