Player has nothing but nice things to say about Newcastle – Determined to get back to Premier League

Girondins Bordeaux youngster Amadou Diallo has heaped praise on Newcastle United, insisting there are no hard feelings about his exit this summer.

Girondins4Ever cover comments from the 21-year-old today after he joined the French side this summer on a free transfer following his exit from Newcastle.

The winger started his career in England with West Ham United, moving up from their youth set up to the U18’s and U21’s before leaving them in July 2022.

He then joined Newcastle’s U21 set up in October 2022 and went on to make 34 appearances for them in all competitions, scoring five and assisting four.

He also managed one solitary, one minute appearance for Newcastle’s first team in the Premier League but was not a part of the plans at the club moving forwards.

Thus, he left on a free transfer this summer and has joined Bordeaux, who currently find themselves in the French fourth tier and now an amateur club following bankruptcy.

The winger is not the only player with Geordie links at the club after Andy Carroll also joined them this summer. Diallo had less success at St James Park than the striker, but it doesn’t mean he has anything negative to say about them.

“For me it was a good experience, and I thank everyone at the club for helping me spend time at the highest level and showing me what it takes day in and day out to get to that level,” he said.

“It’s a big challenge to come back to the Premier League and that’s what I’m going to do. I came to Newcastle young; I gained experience, and I matured because I lived on my own and I had to learn to be more independent.

“It was a good experience, I enjoyed it, it’s a city full of good people and it was easy to settle in. I have no regrets, I was there for two seasons, and I gave everything on and off the pitch, so I have no regrets about how it went.”
