“Only the beginning” – Leicester boss Steve Cooper has big words for club star, says player is ‘getting better’

Leicester City’s Mads Hermansen has arguably been one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League this season.

He equalled David de Gea’s record of making the most saves in a single game through his heroics against Arsenal, and the Leicester man has been a very reliable figure between the sticks for the Foxes even in general.

Leicester boss Steve Cooper was recently asked about Hermansen in an interview with TV3 Sport and had big praise for the goalkeeper.

He said, as relayed by TipsBladet: “It is also fair to say, and he wants me to say it: It is only the beginning. He is working on getting better. 

“We’ve only played seven games, but it’s been a good start. We like his attitude and professionalism and his curiosity to improve. He also asks good questions and we enjoy working with him.”

Cooper also spoke about the game against Arsenal, when the 24-year-old equalled the Premier League record. The Foxes boss said he felt sorry for Hermansen, at the end of the game.

“Nobody wanted him to make so many saves against Arsenal. I felt sorry for him after the match as he deserved a result after that day. 

“When the third goal went in via an equaliser, it was a difficult one for all of us to accept, especially him.”

Leicester find themselves with six points from seven games so far, and avoiding relegation is definitely the goal for them in this campaign.

Hermansen has played every game this season and the way things are going, he will have a huge say in where the club finish. That is exactly why keeping him fit and ready to play regularly should be a priority for Cooper.
