“I don’t believe in miracles but…” – Confidence from CEO as he joins fans heading to Chelsea

KAA Gent chairman Sam Baro has admitted he is heading to watch his side take on Chelsea hopeful of puling off a major upset.

Voetbalkrant cover comments from Baro today as his side travel to Stamford Bridge for matchday one of the Europa Conference League.

Chelsea will be hosting the Belgian side before games against Panathinaikos, Noah, Heidenheim, Astana and Shamrock Rovers in the new look league format.

They’ll hope to build on what has been an impressive start to the season which has seen them win four of their six games in the league so far and score 15 goals, the most in the top flight.

Chelsea appear to be a side coming together under Enzo Maresca, who has a squad at his disposal that most managers can only dream of.

It is that large squad which should help them to navigate the tricky congested fixture list that European football creates, and which makes them favourites for this clash against Gent.

Baro, though, is full of confidence and is even willing to put his usual pessimism aside to believe in a shock result instead.

“We are going there with 3,200 supporters. Very exciting,” Voetbalkrant report him saying.

“It’s David versus Goliath. But miracles are not out of the question yet. Normally I don’t believe in miracles, but the team is ready for it. The focus is there.”
