“He’s rubbish” – Cassano in big attack on Lukaku after Chelsea failure

On August 29th, Romelu Lukaku left Chelsea and completed a permanent move to Napoli.

The striker has enjoyed a good start to his life at the Naples club, managing two goals and two assists from two games.

Despite this, Antonio Cassano is not pleased with the former Chelsea man. Speaking to Viva el Futbol, relayed by Area Napoli, the Italian has been critical about the 31-year-old.

The Belgium international arrived in Italy for the first time when Inter Milan signed him from Manchester United in 2019. He starred for the Nerazzurri under Antonio Conte’s orders.

This convinced Chelsea to invest over €100m to bring him back to the club. However, the frontman failed to impress for the Blues, who then sent him out on loan to Inter and AS Roma in the last two seasons.

Napoli appointed Conte as their new manager in the summer and he wanted to reunite with Lukaku. They were able to fulfil the coach’s wish towards the end of the window.

Cassano, who played for Roma, Real Madrid and Inter in the past, has launched an attack on the Belgian.

“What do I think of Napoli’s new centre forward? In Italy he makes the difference even at 60%, outside our country he’s rubbish,” he said.

“This is a fact, yesterday [on Sunday against Cagliari] he struggled immensely despite the goal and the two assists. People only watch the highlights and do not carefully study what happens over the course of 90 minutes.”

Cassano is known for being a loudmouth, but it’s fair to say Lukaku wasn’t able to show his worth for Chelsea during his second stint with the Blues.
