The first ordeal of the team, which was in the country for a 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier, was the diversion of their flight to Al-Abraq from Benghazi, midway into the trip.
On arrival, the team could not leave the airport for the venue of the match, which was about three hours away.
The private arrangement made by the Nigeria Football Federation to transport them to the venue of the match, scheduled for Tuesday (tomorrow), was also frustrated as the bus was not allowed entry into the airport.
It was during the uncertainty that the team decided to head home.
