Raids were in response to a rocket attack on US troops in the country

Nov. 13 (UPI) -- The U.S. military conducted retaliatory airstrikes Tuesday in Syria, targeting facilities of Iran-backed militias following rockets launched at U.S. forces in the Middle Eastern country.

US forces on Tuesday carried out strikes against targets linked to an Iranian-backed groups in Syria in response to a rocket attack on Washington's troops in the country, the US military said.

"Our message is clear. Attacks against US and coalition partners in the region will not be tolerated."

One group reports that 169 people have been killed since the violence started in southeastern Jazirah state on Oct. 20

The US military said on Monday it had carried out strikes against nine targets associated with Iranian groups in Syria.

Military says strikes were against two locations in Syria and a response to several attacks on US personnel in Syria in past 24 hours.

CENTCOM announced on Monday that it had conducted strikes against nine Iranian-linked targets in Syria. The strikes were in response to attacks on American personnel.
