Woman killed after being hit by a bus in city centre

A woman has died after being hit by a bus in the middle of Nottingham City Centre, police have confirmed.

Emergency services were called to Lower Parliament Street at 6.05am on Tuesday, October 22 following reports of a collision involving a bus and a pedestrian.

The woman, who was in her 30s, was treated at the scene but died a short time later, and a police cordon remains in place around the area between Milton Street and Glasshouse Street.

Drivers have been asked to avoid the area. Chief Inspector Dean Gallacher said: ‘This was a tragic incident and we are currently working to understand exactly what happened.

‘The road will remain closed for some time as investigation work is carried out and we advise drivers to avoid the area until further notice.’
