Spain floods death toll passes 150 with more bad weather on the way
by Sarah Hooper · MetroRescuers in Spain are continuing the search for bodies in stranded cars and sodden buildings after monstrous flash floods in Spain claimed at least 158 lives.
155 deaths have been confirmed in the eastern Valencia region alone, with more bad weather on the way in the coming days.
The damage from the storm late Tuesday and early Wednesday recalled the aftermath of a tsunami.
Cars were piled on one another, uprooted trees, downed power lines and household items all buried in mud that covered streets.
Spain’s state weather agency has issued further alerts about ‘strong storms’, with Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez saying: ‘This storm front is still with us.
‘Stay home and heed the official recommendation and you will help save lives.’
