Man charged after series of serious assaults over the weekend in Derby

Three men and a woman who were also arrested in connection with the Churchside Walk assault have been released on bail

A 28-year-old man has been charged in connection with two serious assaults that occurred over the weekend in Derby.

The first incident occurred at 9.30pm on Saturday, September 28, when a woman was assaulted by a man on Normanton Road and suffered cuts to her head, causing her to be taken to a hospital for treatment.

The second incident occurred at a property in Churchside Walk at around 2.30am on Sunday, September 29, when a man suffered serious life-altering injuries after allegedly being assaulted by a man in his late twenties. This victim is currently still in hospital recovering from the injuries he suffered.

Jordan Peake, 28, of Carter Street, Derby, was arrested in connection to both of the assaults and charged with attempted murder, wounding with intent and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

Peake appeared at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates' Court on Thursday, October 3, when the case was adjourned and he was remanded in custody.

Three men and a woman who were also arrested in connection with the Churchside Walk assault have been released on bail as investigations continue.
