Former U.S. President Donald Trump has threatened to prosecute Google if reelected. The presidential nominee has alleged Google only shows “bad stories” about him.

Donald Trump threatens he will prosecute Google on Truth Social

As the US Presidential elections heats up, social media platforms and search engines are playing a crucial role in the campaigns for both the leading candidates.

Using his own social media platform, former US President Donald J. Trump has issued a threat to Google on Truth Social. Trump proclaimed that if reelected, he would prosecute Google.

“It has been determined that Google has illegally used a system of only revealing and displaying bad stories about Donald J. Trump, some made up for this purpose while, at the same time, only revealing good stories about Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris,”

“This is an illegal activity, and hopefully the Justice Department will criminally prosecute them for this blatant interference in elections. If not, and subject to the laws of our country, I will request their prosecution, at the maximum levels, when I win the election, and become president of the United States.”

Team Trump has used this tactic in the 2019 Presidential elections

Trump has been threatening multiple individuals, agencies, and entities. According to The Guardian, this month alone, Trump threatened to pursue criminal charges against lawyers, donors, political operatives, and a range of other people for alleged election interference and misinformation.

The former US President has been vocal on Truth Social about these threats. It appears that he strongly believes Google and others have engaged in election fraud against him.

It is interesting to note that Donald Trump has presented no evidence to back his claims. According to Reuters, Trump’s election campaign used these very same tactics in 2019. Back then, Trump was vocal on Twitter, and in a series of Tweets, had made these exact claims against Google.

Google hasn’t responded to the recent allegations from Trump. However, the search giant has previously dismissed these claims. It is not clear how Google would respond to Trump’s latest threats. Needless to say, even without Trump, Google has a lot of legal battles to fight.
