Tragedy as man dies near Acocks Green railway station

A man died on railway tracks near Acocks Green railway station, it has been confirmed. Emergency services rushed to the station at around 7pm on Friday, November 1.

Paramedics were in attendance but the man could not be saved. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

British Transport Police said his death was not being treated as suspicious. The force will prepare a file for the coroner.

A British Transport Police spokesperson said this afternoon: "Officers were called to a report of a casualty on the tracks just after 7pm on Friday, November 1, at Acocks Green railway station. Officers and paramedics attended and sadly a person was pronounced deceased.

"The incident is not thought to be suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."

West Midlands Railway released a statement during the incident which read: "Emergency Services between Birmingham Snow Hill and Dorridge. Due to the emergency services dealing with an incident near the railway between Birmingham Snow Hill and Dorridge the line is blocked."

Train services, between Snow Hill and Dorridge stations, were briefly disrupted during the incident. It's understood services resumed later the same night.
