Prince Harry was asked a heartbreaking question after he missed the Queen's death. He was greeted at Balmoral by his aunt Princess Anne who had been staying with the monarch.

The Duke of Sussex was in London with his wife Meghan Markle when his father, then Prince Charles, informed them of the Queen's deteriorating health on September 8, 2022. Harry alleges that his father later told him "no wives" were to visit the Queen, with Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton staying in London.

Harry decided to charter a private jet to travel to Scotland in the hopes of visiting with his grandmother before she died. He took a flight from Luton Airport, set to land in Scotland at 8pm but by the time his plane touched down, news of the Queen's death had already spread, GloucestershireLive reports.

In his memoir 'Spare', Harry wrote: "When the plane started to descend I saw that my phone lit up. It was a message from Meg: 'Call me when you get this.'". I looked at the BBC website. My grandmother had died. My father was King."

He said: "She asked if I wanted to see Granny. [I answered,] 'Yes, I do.'". Harry revealed that his grandmother's bedroom felt "unfamiliar" when he visited her. He described the moment as "difficult", but said he "kept on thinking how I'd regretted not seeing my mother at the end," according to a US magazine report.

Harry has since expressed his admiration for his grandmother who continued working until her final days. The Queen had a meeting with then Prime Minister Liz Truss just 48 hours before her passing.

Truss took over from Boris Johnson as Prime Minister on September 6 but she resigned just 49 days later.
