Brits are being warned of brisk winds of up to 60mph and a deluge of heavy rain. The UK is set to be battered by further amounts of rainfall, following a week that saw flood warnings issued and chaos in Birmingham.

The Met Office has issued a fresh weather warning for the UK, forecasting a 200-mile wall of rain across various regions. They include parts of England and Scotland.

Wind speeds of up to 60mph are predicted by the forecaster, according to the Express. It comes after Southern England and the Midlands witnessed more than 250 per cent of the average September rainfall.

It signals a stark change in season and means summer is officially over. Jason Kelly, chief meteorologist at the Met Office, said Sunday, September 29, would bring more wet and windy weather across the southern half of the UK.

The Met Office added that band of rain would move into western areas would and reach the Midlands by dusk. Monday would be a cloudy day with outbreaks of rain for many, it added.

The UK outlook for Tuesday to Thursday added: “Windy with further rain in the east on Tuesday but drier and brighter elsewhere. Wednesday and Thursday largely dry with sunny spells after any morning fog clears. Remaining rather cold.”
