Woman, 80, decapitated after plunging from 28th floor of NYC apartment block

An 80-year-old woman has died in a horrific incident after falling from the 28th floor of a New York apartment building. Witnesses described the traumatic scene, with one resident stating: "I pulled up just as she was laying there, she had no head. The head and the arm were clean cut off on the other side, they ended up on the terrace."

The unnamed woman fell from the Regis Apartments at around 3.30 pm on Saturday, October 12. Her clothes were found stuck on a fence near the bottom of the building, which was badly bent from the impact. Another witness, a 23-year-old, said: "Everyone started rushing towards the body, but she was gone."

"Her body landed there but her head and leg hit the fence there, you can see it's bent, there were clothes and blood stuck there."

The woman's body became entangled on the side of the tower, which has numerous balconies, and landed on the ground decapitated, reports the Mirror.

Police cordoned off the area with blue tape, and several police vehicles were spotted around the scene. The woman's body was covered with a white cloth before being taken away by emergency services.

The New York Police Department is still probing the potential motive behind the woman's fatal fall. The victim's identity has yet to be disclosed.
