Birmingham police and medics battled to save man before he died on roadside as murder probe launched

Police and paramedics battled to save a man found seriously injured before he died in Birmingham overnight. Detectives have since launched a murder probe into the death.

Emergency services were called to Hunters Road, in Lozells, just before 12.30am, today, Monday, September 30. One man was found in a critical condition.

Despite the best efforts from police officers and attending paramedics, he could not be saved. A second man was also given advanced trauma care at the roadside. He was rushed to hospital where he fights for his life.

An ambulance service spokeswoman told BirminghamLive: "We were called by West Midlands Police to the junction of Villa Road and Hunters Road, Hockley at 0.34am this morning (Monday 30th September). Two paramedic officers, a MERIT trauma team, a critical care paramedic and two ambulances attended the scene.

"On arrival crews found two injured men in a critical condition being cared for by police colleagues. Sadly, despite the best efforts of ambulance staff nothing could be done to save one man and he was confirmed deceased on scene. The second man was given advanced trauma care at the roadside before being blue lighted to hospital for further emergency care."
