VERNAL — A teenager is in intensive care after accidentally being run over in a school parking lot.
On Monday, two teenagers were riding on the hood of a vehicle in the parking lot at Terra Academy, a charter school in Vernal, police said. An 18-year-old student was driving and the two teenagers slipped off the front of the vehicle, Vernal police said.
One of the students, a 16-year-old girl, got trapped under the vehicle. Police and bystanders lifted the vehicle and pulled the girl out.
The teen was then taken to Ashley Regional Medical Center before being flown to a Salt Lake area hospital. Police said she was stabilized but is in intensive care.
The accident is under investigation and will be reviewed for potential charges, police said.
