COVE FORT, Millard County — Two people are dead and three others were seriously injured in a wrong-way crash Thursday on I-15 near the I-70 interchange in Millard County, the Utah Highway Patrol said.

A preliminary investigation shows a Toyota Corolla was traveling south in the northbound lanes about 5:15 a.m. and a Dodge pickup was northbound in the left lane, according to UHP. The vehicles collided head-on.

The car's driver, who is from Florida, and a juvenile in the pickup were killed. The driver and two juvenile passengers in the pickup were taken to area hospitals with serious injuries, UHP said.

The names of the deceased have not yet been released.

It appears everyone involved in the crash was wearing a seat belt, investigators said.

The crash temporarily closed all northbound lanes on I-15 near the interchange, according to the Utah Department of Transportation, before opening shortly after 11 a.m. Thursday.
