OGDEN — A man was hit and killed by a vehicle in Ogden on Wednesday evening, and police are asking for help to find the driver who hit him.

Just after 5 p.m., Ogden police responded to a report of an unconscious man lying in a parking lot near 7th Street and Washington Boulevard.

The 63-year-old man was cleaning the parking lot of a nearby carwash when he was hit by a vehicle, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man's identity has not been released by police, but some of his family showed up at the scene and spoke with KSL-TV. Misty and Josh Kelso said their dad was the one killed.

"I just talked to him last night," Misty Kelso said. "He was a strong man. I love my dad."

The Kelsos said their father was always cleaning up the car wash parking lot.

"He dumps the garbage, he checks the vacuums, he picks up the things to make sure stuff's cleaned up. He'd be here, rain, snow or shine," Misty Kelso said.

The driver fled the scene before police arrived. Anyone with information on the accident is encouraged to contact Weber Area Dispatch at 801-395-8221.
