Two criminal damage by fire incidents which took place in North Kildare earlier this week have prompted garda investigations.

Garda Brian Carroll of Newbridge Garda Station told KFM about both incidents when he appeared on one of the station's programmes earlier this morning.

Commenting on the first incident, Gda Carroll said that it took place in the Trinity Crescent area of Derrinturn on Monday, October 7 last.

He said that at around 3.35am, a petrol bomb was thrown into a vacant house, causing fire damage.

For the second incident, Gda Carroll said that at around 4.20am, another property, this time located in the Ashgrove region of Derrinturn, caught fire.

"It is believed that this may have been caused by a petrol bomb," Gda Carroll added.

He further said: "There were a number of occupants in the house at the time and escaped, but some of them were taken to hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation injuries."

Gda Carroll concluded by urging anyone with information about the two incidents to contact Carbury Garda Station on 046 955 3002.

In particular, he said that gardaí at this station would be interested in reviewing any CCTV or dashcam footage taken in both the Trinity Crescent and Ashgrove areas at the time the respective incidents occurred.
