A man was killed in a shooting in a neighborhood near Chandler Airport on Sunday night.

Fresno police were called to an area of Myers Avenue near Fruit Avenue around 10:50 p.m. on reports of gunfire and found the victim in the backyard of an occupied home, according to Lt. Henry Garcia.

Police Lt. Paul Cervantes, in an update, said a combination of 59 rounds were fired at the home, including an initial burst of 44 rounds.

The man was identified by police as 35-year-old Patrick Dixon Jr. He had been shot twice in the upper body, Cervantes said.

He was taken to Community Regional Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead.

Homicide detectives were investigating the relationship between the man and those inside the home and looking for video surveillance or witnesses to determine what may have led to the shooting.

They were also looking for other potential victims, Garcia said, as at least one home and several vehicles were struck by the gunfire. Several bullet casings were found on the street.

Cervantes said there was a gathering at the time of the shooting.

Anyone with information on the shooting is urged to call the Fresno Police Department at 559-621-7000.
