The autumn weather is well and truly here, with hopes of an 'Indian summer' shattered for Merseyside. While the temperature has significantly dropped making it officially big coat weather, the heavy rain is set to continue as we reach the month of October.

This Saturday we're expecting to see persistent showers with a mixture of sunny spells after a chilly start to the day. According to the Met Office, showers are set to gradually ease through the night, with minimum temperatures of a chilly 6 °C.

On Sunday, it's set to be a hazy start to the day turning increasingly wet and windy from the west by late afternoon. Maximum temperatures will reach 14 °C.

Monday is set to see 'unsettled' outbreaks of heavy rain once again, with Tuesday and Wednesday set to see temperatures return 'closer to average'. According to the Met Office website, the start of October will see a 'trend towards more unsettled conditions with rain or showers'.

Temperatures will be near or below-average at first, recovering to 'above-average' for a time by next weekend. Elsewhere, the Met Office has issued a yellow alert for wind on Sunday (September 29) in North Wales.

There could be gusts of up to 60mph in exposed places, with possible travel disruption, large waves on the coastline and power cuts. This is in addition to the yellow rain warning which was previously issued for Thursday, lasting all day and covering much of the north-east of England.
