Jealous husband admits he tried to hang and electrocute his wife

A maniacal Michigan man pleaded no contest to charges that he tortured and abused his wife in a months-long jealous rage — and even tried to electrocute and hang her in their basement.

Saul Lucio-Ipina, 32, admitted he subjected his wife to the horrific abuse over more than three months because he suspected she was cheating on him, according to MLive/The Grand Rapids Press

Kent County prosecutors last week showed jurors a one-hour police interview with the victim, who then took the witness stand and detailed the nightmarish marriage, the outlet said.

The abuse started in January 2023, when an insanely jealous Lucio-Ipina took his wife into the basement of their Grand Rapids home, hung a rope from a beam and forced her to stand on a bucket — then put a noose around her throat and demanded answers, she said.

When the woman slipped off the bucket and started choking, Lucio-Ipina caught her, she said.

Two months later, Luico-Ipina made his wife sit in a children’s swing hanging in the couple’s basement, tied her up — then attached jumper cables to a live wire and began zapping her over five hours, according to the report.

“He tied me up with rope and a metal wire around my arms and through my back. I couldn’t get up if I wanted to,” she told jurors. “Any time I would answer a question or didn’t answer a question, he would zap me.”

The woman finally reported the abuse to police a few days later and her husband was busted in April 2023 and held on bail pending his trial.

Up against the damning testimony, Lucio-Ipina pleaded guilty to two counts of torture and witness interference. He is due to be sentenced on Oct. 28.
