Man held over alleged assault of elected representative

A man is due in court tomorrow following an alleged assault on an elected representative.

The alleged assault occurred while the elected representative was canvassing in his local community in Dublin yesterday.

The man, 30s, was arrested by gardaí following the incident and has since been charged.

He is due to appear before Blanchardstown District Court 10.30am tomorrow morning.

Gardaí said that investigations were ongoing.
