In response to the footage, the Petaling Jaya District Police posted a statement on Facebook, explaining that their Motorcycle Patrol Unit was carrying out preventive patrols in the main city area on October 27.

The suspect ran a red light

While on patrol, officers noticed a man on a motorcycle who ran a red light, which prompted them to try to pull him over. However, he refused to cooperate.

The suspect then accelerated and fled down Mosque Road toward Kayu Ara, successfully evading capture by disappearing behind the Kayu Wood flat houses.

The statement also revealed that it’s believed that the suspect escaped by wading through a shallow river, as his motorcycle was left near the riverbank along with a red helmet.

The motorcycle has since been taken back to the Damansara Police Station, where further checks revealed that it is registered to a Malay woman, and there are no reports of it being stolen.

Efforts to locate the suspect are ongoing

A police report has been filed for further investigation, and the case is being looked into under Section 186 of the Penal Code.

The incident has also gone viral on social media, and efforts to locate the suspect are ongoing.
