Bomba’s rapid response prevents major fire at Sibu hotel, no injuries reported

SIBU (Sept 21): A fire broke out at a prominent hotel at Jalan Lanang here this afternoon.

According to a statement from Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), an emergency call was received around 1.20pm.

Firefighters from the Sibu Sentral station were immediately dispatched and arrived on the scene within two minutes.

Upon arrival, they discovered the fire had originated from a storage unit containing 17 liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders.

Firefighters successfully brought the blaze under control by 1.45 pm.

No injuries or casualties were reported.

As of the time of writing, firefighters were carrying out a cooling operation so that further investigation can be conducted inside the premises.
