Motorcycle shop in Sibu razed by fire, two rescued from upper floor

The motorcycle shop being razed by fire this afternoon.

SIBU (Set 28): A motorcycle shop at Jalan Lanang here was completely destroyed in a fire this afternoon.

The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre in a statement said a woman and a child were rescued during the incident.

It said a team of 19 personnel from Sibu Central and Sungai Merah fire stations were despatched to the location after a distress call was received at 2.57pm.

“When they arrived, the team observed that the fire involved a motorcycle shop occupying two lots measuring 40 feet by 40 feet located at the ground floor of a three-storey building.

“The two victims rescued in the incident were on the third floor of the building.

“The firefighters managed to bring the situation under control,” said the statement.
