Donald Trump has been pictured arriving at his latest rally in a rubbish truck - in a scathing dig at Joe Biden.

The Republican, aged 78, travelled in the MAGA truck to his rally - and a held a press conference from inside the vehicle - in a bizarre stunt less than 24 hours after Biden referred to Trump's supporters as "garbage".

Speaking to reporters today in Green Bay, Wisconsin, defiant Trump said: "How do you like my garbage truck? This truck is in honour of Kamala and Joe Biden. For Joe Biden to make that statement — it’s really a disgrace."

Trump mocks the Democrats with the move as the US election, thought to be one of the closest in history, looms. Wisconsin is one of the seven battlegrounds, which could ultimately decide the election and polls show the state is essentially a coin-flip.

Biden, 81, was initially quoted as saying: "The only garbage I see floating out there is his supporters." However, the White House later clarified his words with an apostrophe in the transcript, and claimed the president was only talking about comedian Tony Hinchcliffe calling Puerto Rico a "floating island of garbage".

The side of the truck was emblazoned with a Trump sign and had an American flag on the window. Trump, wearing an orange reflective vest, took questions from the press as he sat in the huge vehicle.

One journalist asked if Trump owes Puerto Rico an apology over Hinchcliffe's jibe during his Madison Square Garden rally on Sunday. However, the Republican candidate said: "I love Puerto Rico. And Puerto Rico loves me. I don't know anything about a comedian. Nobody has done more for Puerto Rico than me. Nobody gets along better with Puerto Rico. They love me and I love them."

The dad of five was in the battleground state for a rally with NFL legend Brett Favre. The retired Green Bay Packer quarterback told the crowd: "Just like the Packers organization, Donald Trump and his organization is a winner and the United States of America won with his leadership

"I can assure you we're not garbage. How dare you say that. Looking out I see police officers, teachers ,nurses grandparents students I see everyday Americans that make this country great."

Trump then took the rally stage still wearing the orange vest as the crowd roared. He opened his address in Wisconsin by saying: "I have to begin by saying, 250 million Americans are not garbage."
