A man allegedly stabbed his girlfriend to death in front of the couple's horrified kids who hid in fear while calling 911.

Ramon Joseph Rivas, 34, is facing murder charges along with two counts of child endangerment as he stands accused of multiple stabbings on his girlfriend, Jessica Marie Tinoco, last week at their shared residence n what appears to be a domestic spat gone fatally wrong.

During the horrific incident that unfolded at home, Tinoco, a mother to five, was brutally stabbed multiple times while several children witnessed the assault. In a desperate act of survival, the frightened children darted to the front of the property and made an emergency call to 911 as Rivas arrived and allegedly commenced the attack on their mum, per official reports.

Heartfelt sorrow and remembrance marked Tinoco's vigil on Monday, with a crowd surpassing 100 people gathering to pay respects. Grieving friends and family reminisced about a woman with a "pure heart" whose only failing was her undue care for those deemed unworthy of her immense kindness.

October is recognised as Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and the Ventura District Attorney's Office has urged anyone suffering from domestic abuse to seek help. They told KTLA News that victims or survivors can reach out to a victim advocate at the Ventura County Family Justice Center in Ventura, either in person or via email, call, or text message.

Shocking statistics reveal that 34% of women in California will experience domestic violence at some stage in their lives, as per the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence. In 2018, domestic violence made up 20% of all reported violent crimes, with a staggering 65% of all murder-suicides involving an intimate partner.

The NCADV also revealed that a horrifying 96% of victims in these crimes were women.
