A Brit who went missing after flying off to Tenerife to meet a friend has been found safe.

Kris Finney, from Ramsbottom, Greater Manchester, jetted off to the Canary Island last Thursday morning and then went off the radar later that day. The 31-year-old electrician spoke to his mum to confirm he had landed, but he did not meet his friend who he had arranged to see. And his family had not heard from Kris following that phone call.

His aunt Debbie Kenyon said that since Thursday, neither his family or friends have been unable to reach him, with his mobile switched off and calls and messages failing to get through. Debbie revealed that Kris last spoke to his pals around 9pm last Thursday and was last known to be at the Playa de las Americas resort on the island, near the McDonald's. It's believed he was staying at Casa Natalia, in the Armeñime area.

She previously told the Manchester Evening News: "He was going for a week away and meeting up with his friend. He flew out on Thursday morning last week. He arrived on Thursday afternoon. His mum got a text at 4pm from him, and that was the last we heard from him. According to some of his friends, they were speaking to him around 9pm that night.

"Since then, nobody has heard anything from him. He was supposed to meet up with his friend who is staying in a different hotel and never showed. We have phoned and sent texts that haven't delivered. It was last night that we got the call from one of his friends saying nobody had heard from him for days. We've been trying to get hold of him and haven't been able to - it's not like Kris."

The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office confirmed it was aware of Kris' disappearance but thankfully his family have given a positive update this afternoon, saying he has been found safe. He was found today and spoke to his family, including his aunt Debbie. It's understood the FCDO liaised with local police in Tenerife earlier today to enquire into Kris' disappearance.

The British Consulate reportedly contacted various hospitals on the island. It's understood that Kris' friend, who he was supposed to meet last Thursday, had been spoken to by police. Debbie confirmed that a woman found Kris and lent him her phone to use after taking him to her shop, before he called his family.
