BREAKING: Two arrested as Northwich murder probe launched after man dies in 'disturbance'

Two people have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man died following a 'disturbance' at a house in Cheshire.

A 41-year-old woman and a 35-year-old man were detained at the scene and are being questioned by detectives. It comes after police were called to a 'disturbance' at a property on Brook Lane in Northwich on Saturday afternoon.

A man was found at the house with serious injuries. Paramedics and the air ambulance were called, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim is believed to be in his late 30s. Police say his next of kin have been informed and they are being supported by specialist officers.

A police cordon is currently in place on Brook Lane. Det Insp Eleanor Atkinson appealed for witnesses.

She said: "I understand the concern that this incident is likely to cause, and I want to reassure residents that this is believed to be an isolated incident and there is no risk to the wider community.

"Two people have been arrested and are currently being held in police custody. Patrols have been stepped up in the local area to provide reassurance, and a cordon is currently in place at the scene.

"As part of the investigation we’re keen to hear from anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident and may have witnessed anything suspicious. The same goes or anyone with any CCTV or dashcam footage which may aid the in investigation."
