Woman seriously injured after cars burst into flames after crash

A woman was seriously injured after her car went up in flames following a crash.

Emergency services were called to the smash involving three vehicles in Buxton Road, Disley, at about 3.45pm yesterday (Tuesday).

Police say a car collided with a bus and a parked car before the two cars caught fire. A gas main was also damaged in the incident.

The driver of the car, a woman in her 40s, was taken to hospital with serious injuries. Buxton Road was closed between High Lane and New Mills for several hours while emergency services worked at the scene.

Eyewitnesses reported long delays on surrounding roads as a result of the incident.

A spokesperson for Cheshire Police said: "At 3.44pm on Tuesday 15 October police were called to a three vehicle collision in Buxton Road, Disley. A car collided with a bus and a parked car.

"Both cars then caught fire and a gas main was damaged in the collision. The driver of the car, a woman in her 40s was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

"The road was closed while emergency services worked at the scene."
